Day one of the Ludington Offshore Classic gets wiped out. Just like that, the biggest tournament on Lake Michigan turns into a one-day shootout for $20,000.
Fisherman's Digest rides with Team Innuendo south of Ludington as nearly 130 boats scatter for an eight-hour fishing period. The rules test more than a hot bite. Teams can bring 12 fish to the scales, with a maximum of nine of any one species. Scoring is 10 points per fish and one point per pound, so filling the limit is a must and every upgrade counts. Kings move with the wind. Lake trout have to show up. Steelhead fill holes in the box. Yesterday's pre-fish is no guarantee once the lake changes.
