I headed out to Eagle Lake before sunrise with one goal in mind: catch some walleye. Armed with my favorite crankbait and fishing from my kayak, I worked the shallow shelves and weed edges that have produced fish for me in the past.

What started as a walleye mission quickly turned into an incredible northern pike day! Despite challenging Alberta winds and changing conditions, I managed to land 10 northern pike, including a beautiful 31-inch trophy-sized fish for Eagle Lake.

Join me as I battle strong winds, cover water with a trolling setup, and see if persistence can finally put a walleye in the kayak. Sometimes fishing doesn't go according to plan—but that's what makes every trip an adventure.
