The pike fishing season is back, and in this episode I’m out deadbaiting for pike across two days and two very different venues — a river and a lake. With water temperatures still around 16°C, I’m starting my early-season pike fishing earlier than usual and trying to work out how the warmer conditions are affecting the pike, their feeding behaviour and where they are holding. I’m also putting a new live underwater camera on the bait boat to get a look beneath the surface and see what’s really happening around my deadbaits, with plenty of perch and roach showing up along the way. Pike fishing in Ireland, deadbaiting for pike, early-season pike fishing, river pike fishing and lake pike fishing — this is the start of another season on the hunt for Irish pike.
