Fishing this lake for Kokanee this time of the year can be very productive. Get there early, and get off the water before all the pleasure boaters, wake boarders and jet skiers arrive...

Kim and Ruger accompanied me to fish Merwin Reservoir. We arrived late after a trailering mishap and only had a few hours to fish before we decided to leave. Still an awesome morning with my better half...

Merwin Reservoir was formed after the completion of Merwin Dam, in 1931 by the Inland Power and Light Company. The reservoir fluctuates depending on the amount of run-off making boat access difficult at times.

Kokanee are the main target, however, Tiger Muskie planted in 1995 are also popular with anglers. This North Fork Lewis River impoundment located near the town of Ariel, on the south side of Highway SR503, is shared by Clark and Cowlitz counties.
