A good strategy for finding ambush predators like salmon and Sea-run Cutthroat trout is to seek out places where fast currents carry food items. Where tidal currents are constricted into narrow waterways, like the one I’m fishing in this video, the flow can be very rapid. Just as all river anglers know, putting a fly into the seam between the fast current and slacker water is a great way to find fish that are conserving energy while they wait for a meal to be carried their way.
