It feels like I haven't done much in the way of Saltwater Fly Fishing since the Orvis Festival, and even more criminal, I hadn't caught a bass off the surface yet this year, so it was time to get the Gurglers out and try and get a topwater smash.
The Gurgler is one of my favourite flies, it is so simple in it's design and quick to tie, but it is also very effective at catching bass. Surface takes really get the adrenaline going and it gets quite addictive.
So this video follows me chasing the smash over a couple of consecutive early morning sessions, on the second I'm joined by my friend Tom, will we get a topwater smash? Watch and find out,
Tight lines!
