What a week…
After one of the toughest harvests we’ve ever faced at Fensmere Fish Farm—with minimal staff, endless work, and barely any sleep—we finally got the lakes emptied, nets shot, fish moved, and all the kit packed away. Once everything was back home at Fensmere, I spent Monday afternoon prepping for something I’ve been looking forward to for months…
???? A full 2-week carp-fishing adventure on Rainbow Lake, Post 21.
This year I’ve brought along Billy Berridge, who helped me survive the brutal harvest and earned himself an invite. Billy’s set up on the right-hand side, fishing up the gullies into the legendary Chocolate Box, while I’m on the left-hand side, fishing across all the bars of Post 21.
The 400 km journey here was horrendous—crashes, rain, traffic jams, delays—but we finally made it. We set up on Tuesday afternoon in torrential rain, soaked to the bone but determined. All rods were finally out, and we got our first proper sleep in over a week.
This morning (Wednesday) we woke to sunshine and perfect conditions. No fish yet, but with rising temperatures ahead for the trip, confidence is building. It’s looking promising for a few special Rainbow carp.
???? Follow the journey
I’ll keep you posted throughout the session with updates, captures (hopefully!), and behind-the-scenes moments from one of Europe’s most iconic big-carp venues.
