The Lake Ontario salmon run is picking up, so I headed out to check two of the most popular salmon tributaries and see what the rivers are looking like right now.

In this salmon run update, I walk both rivers looking for Chinook and Coho salmon, checking how many fish have moved into the tributaries and what the current conditions are like. I also go through the fishing gear I use for salmon, including my rod, reel, line, lures and some of the different setups you can use to target these fish during the fall run.

The Lake Ontario salmon run is one of my favorite times of the year. Every fall, Chinook salmon and Coho Salmon leave the lake and push into rivers and creeks across the Greater Toronto Area and Southern Ontario. I'll be continuing to check different tributaries throughout the run and documenting how things change as more fish move upstream.
