73lb 5oz MONSTER another new Fensmere enormadon! | Huge Carp, Harvest Prep & My Return from the UK

???? Another incredible week at Fensmere Fish Farm & Carp Fishing Lake — and another NEW 70lb+ carp!

I’d only just returned to France after a whirlwind trip to the UK for Justin Hamilton & Sarah Parker’s wedding. It was a fantastic couple of days, but it was seriously wishle-stop — fly out Thursday, fly back Saturday, and back at Fensmere by 6pm, absolutely exhausted.

I got myself into bed around 10pm, ready to catch up on some much-needed sleep…
then the phone rang.

“Mark, there’s a big fish in the net.”
That was it — straight out of bed, gear in hand, heading down to the lake.

When I arrived, Mel already had the lights set up and Andy was buzzing around getting everything ready. We looked into the net and instantly knew we had something special. At first, I didn’t recognise her — I thought it might be a mid-60 I’d seen this year, but the tail damage I remembered wasn’t visible.

We lifted her onto the scales and…
73lb 5oz!
A huge, immaculate mirror carp and another new 70 for Fensmere. This is one of 5 fish over the megical 70lb now in the lake INCREDIBLE!

It ended up being the damaged-tail fish — but incredibly, most of the damage had repaired itself over the summer. A clear sign she’s still young, still growing, and could easily become Fensmere’s first 80lb carp.

For Andy and Melissa, it was the perfect start to their week. For me as a lake owner, moments like this make all the graft worthwhile — sharing the excitement, the adrenaline and the atmosphere with anglers who love this place as much as I do.

???? Back to Work: Harvest Prep Begins

No rest for the wicked!
As soon as I was back from the UK trip, I dived straight into the workload at the farm. With the big harvest coming up, we’ve been:

Finalising the main lake tracks with granite and granite dust

Preparing equipment, tanks, pipes and pumps

Checking all the systems and procedures ensuring everything is ready

Making sure the site is fully operational for a smooth harvest weekend

It’s been a huge push, but seeing a 73lb mirror come out on the same weekend makes all the hard work worthwhile.
