Winter Steelhead Fishing

Winter Steelhead fishing is never dull especially when it is in your own back yard.

I braved the freezing temperatures, and fished a 6 mile drift down to Blue Creek in search of the elusive Sea Run Trout better known as a Steelhead while hitting every slot that looked fishy.

A fish count was dismal with a mere 42 Winter Run Steelhead returning to the Barrier Dam Hatchery during 5 days of hatchery operations.

I Bobber Dogged B&R soft beads, from my place on the Cowlitz River and I even pulled plugs for a short time by the Blue creek boat launch while guide boats stirred up the water like a rough ocean outing..
