THE MOVE PAID OFF! ????

This week, Jay and Martin head to Clavering Lakes Specimen Lake for a 48-hour carp fishing session, targeting some of the incredible carp that call this intimate venue home.

Clavering is a lake Jay knows well, having spent plenty of time fishing there growing up. But things have changed over the years. With the stock levels reduced, the fishing is now considerably tougher and every opportunity counts.

After spotting fish at the opposite end of the lake, the lads know they need to make something happen.

Following a quiet first night, Jay makes the decision to pack everything away and move swims in the pouring rain, getting both his and Martin's gear into the area where they'd seen carp earlier in the session.

Effort equals reward.

And it doesn't take long for the move to produce.

Just 13 minutes after getting a rod back out, Jay receives a savage take. Unfortunately, the first opportunity ends in a hook pull — but with fish clearly in the area, another chance isn't far away.

Eventually, the same approach produces again and this time everything goes to plan, resulting in an absolutely stunning 27lb 2oz zip linear.

Along the way there's plenty of the usual Jay and Martin banter, burgers on the bank, a takeaway, a few ciders and two mates enjoying 48 hours of carp fishing.
