What happens if you catch legendary fish BEFORE unlocking fishing in Red Dead Redemption 2? Today, I'm attempting to break RDR2's legendary fishing system by catching legendary fish before completing the Chapter 2 mission "A Fisher of Men"!

Using a trick that allows you to obtain a fishing rod from an NPC early in the game, I decided to take things a step further. Without access to special fishing lures, I turned to something much more explosive — dynamite!

From Owanjila Lake to the Dakota River, Van Horn, and the legendary steelhead trout location, I tested whether it's possible to kill, collect, and register legendary fish before meeting Jeremy Gill.

But here's where things get interesting. Some legendary fish actually appeared in my compendium! So what happens when you try to mail them? Can you unlock Jeremy Gill's mission early? And will those legendary fish respawn afterward?
