Started the morning getting skunked at one creek with not a single bite or fish seen! Salmon run is definitely late this year. Pivoted to another spot nearby and it turned into one of my most entertaining days on the water this fall: landed one of my biggest Chinook salmon yet (sadly foul hooked), and watched another angler hand-line a coho right next to me. That coho came home with me, and I turned it into a fish curry using my grandma's tamarind curry recipe from Andhra, South India. Definitely one of my favourite catch-and-cook meals I've made for this channel, so hope you enjoy!

Gear used:
• 13ft Raven Matrix float rod + Raven Matrix centerpin reel
• 12lb mono mainline, 8lb Drennan fluoro leader
• 5g river float
• Size 8 octopus hook, salmon roe or beads for bait

Tamarind fish curry recipe ingredients:

1.5-2lb fish (steak cut)
2-3 tsp ginger garlic paste
2 large red onions chopped small
Mustard seeds (1 tsp)
Fenugreek seeds (5-10)
Red chilli powder (1 tsp)
Turmeric (0.3 tsp)
Salt
100-150g tamarind paste (soaked in water)
