Fishing the Rogue River for either a steelhead or an early spring Chinook, I had a spinner rod out but also brought the fly rod hoping to hook into some trout… or maybe something bigger.

Well… something BIG ended up smashing the bait and instantly took me downriver. At first I had no clue what I hooked, but after the fight we found a surprise that left me wondering what could’ve been on the end of that line.

Was it my first Spring Chinook?
