The drought is broken! The very first rain of the salmon season just hit the river, triggering a massive surge of ocean-bright Coho to push upstream into fresh water. But the first rain of the year brings extreme conditions: shifting currents, rising water levels, and dirty visibility that can make traditional lures completely useless.

In this video, we hit the river right as the first rain wall hit to track down moving pods of salmon.

Whether you’re here for the technical breakdown or simply for the scenery of a remote river in the clouds, I hope these videos offer a window into the grit and beauty of the BC backcountry.
