Do Bigger Lures Catch Bigger Sea Bass? or does a smaller match-the-hatch lure get more bites?

In this video I put a bigger lure up against a smaller match-the-hatch setup in a proper on-the-water test to see what actually performs best for sea bass. We tracked catch rate, fish size and the biggest fish of the session to find out whether the bigger lure gets fewer bites but better fish.

The small lure starts fast, the big lure feels like a mistake, and then things get very interesting. There’s a proper data review at the end, a tiny net disaster, a fish lost at the net, and a result that genuinely surprised me.

This one is NOT sponsored. I wanted an honest answer, not tackle-shop theory.

If you’re into UK sea bass fishing, lure fishing, soft plastics, match the hatch, baitfish imitation and real fishing experiments, this video is for you.

If you had one cast for a bigger bass, would you go big or match the hatch?
