Bullseye - The River Cam 2011

Bullseye & The Linear are famous Cambridgeshire carp, although I didn't know that when i first caught Bullseye.
Long ago they were residents in a part of the river Cam we call the 'backs' which is the stretch between Queens College lock and Jesus lock, almost a mile in length it passes along the backs of many of Cambridge's famous colleges.
That's where they were possibly born and that's where they lived for many, many years. The first sighting of them I heard about was how one of the chef's at the colleges would often feed them out the kitchen which backed onto that part of the Cam.
Word filtered through that carpers were rowing up the river (there's no public access for fishing) and catching the carp. Then that part of the Cam was drained one year and the Carp simply swam out through the open lock and down into the section of the river that runs out to the north east and beyond the city.
Carpers continued to go up the river in search of the Carp but it was clear they had gone.
I think it was about three years later when i caught Bullseye that everyone realised where they had got to.
