Today I’m out at Hagan Park targeting recently stocked trout just a few days after the plant. As expected, the bite is tough — most of the fish have already been caught, the water is cold, and very few anglers are around.

With trout not willing to chase lures early in the morning, I switch things up and break out a bait setup using Phet Baits USA Floating Orange Eel on a Carolina rig. This stationary presentation turns out to be the key to getting bites when conditions are cold and slow.
