2025 was a massive year for gaming, but some of my most memorable experiences came from outside the spotlight. While I enjoy the big blockbuster releases as much as anyone, I spent a lot of time this year looking for those smaller, inventive titles that offer a refreshing change of pace.

From pixel-art fishing to post-apocalyptic golf and "LEGO-engineer" Martian rovers, these 15 games were the highlight of my year. In this video, I break down why each of these titles earned a spot on my list and why they might be a great addition to your library, too.
