Here's why you don't need helicopter rigs in silt.

Most anglers will choose a helicopter rig in silt, but I’ve been fishing with running rigs in silt for 15 years on various waters and they work great, whatever the range. The big downside with a helicopter rig is that the carp can still use the weight of the lead to throw the rig because it’s a semi-fixed lead system.

The secret to fishing running rigs in silt is how you cast. As long as you decelerate the lead in flight and you stop the lead just before it hits the surface of the water, the rig will swing down and land gently on the silt. When I can, I add a PVA stick to help decelerate the lead and the rig as it falls through the water.

When I fish a big park lake, I can't put any PVA because of the range, so I fish a big bait (24 mm Scopex Squid), I feel the lead fall through 12 - 14t of water, and if I get a soft little thud then I know that I'm fishing.
