A chance visit to a tackle shop saw me acquire an original Hardy Marksman Avon rod and matching Conquest Centrepin reel in almost unused condition.

It seemed only fitting that my first outing with this new 'old' setup should be to the old estate lake in pursuit of tench and carp.
