There aren't many more exciting moments in European fishing than seeing a big wild carp hovering under your floating bread before slurping it down, are there? Well, it turns out topwater blowups from big, gnarly bass come pretty close. To my absolute delight I've found a bit of both on my local river since moving to Valencia, so I set out on a multi-species-surface-only (kind of) mission.
