I'm going to briefly talk about the gear and tackle I use when I'm surf fishing. my main surf rod is a 10' salmon steelhead pole I got from cabela's. and the reel I use a shimano stradic FK reel size 5000, which I spooled 40# braid onto. I usually use a #2 baitholder hook but an octopus hook also work. for my rig, I use a 2-hook rig with the weight at the bottom - a 2oz weight is all you really need.
