What happens when a community stands up to question the promises made by powerful institutions?

In Uyombo village, Kilifi County, Kenya, residents are speaking out against the proposed nuclear power plant by the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (NuPEA). While NuPEA promises development projects, jobs, and scholarships, community members and conservationists reveal the gaps in transparency and the potential risks to both people and the environment.

Hear from Phyllis Omido, a prominent land and environmental defender and 2023 #RightLivelihood Laureate, who, alongside other local community members, is voicing her concerns and rejecting the proposed nuclear project. Together, they rally behind powerful slogans like 'Sitaki Nuclear' and 'Kana Nuclear,' resonating across the village as they demand the right to be heard and to protect their land and future.
