Everybody knows the physalis – the little plant with the orange calyx that looks like a lantern. The name physalis means bladder, which refers to the shape of the calyx of the Chinese lantern plant, also known as Jew’s cherry.

But the physalis has many other names beside Jew’s cherry: Inca berry, Poha berry, Cape gooseberry, Aztec berry, Golden berry, Pineapple ground cherry, Giant ground cherry, Peruvian ground cherry, Peruvian cherry, Husk tomatoes, Pichu berry, Pok Pok, Ras Bhari, Aguaymanto, Uvilla, Uchuva, Physalis and many other names. It is not clear precisely how many others. Some eighty to ninety varieties of physalis occur in North and South America and southern Europe, in the southern parts of the warm and moderate regions.

Fig, (Ficus carica), plant of the mulberry family (Moraceae) and its edible fruit. The common fig is indigenous to an area extending from Asiatic Turkey to northern India, but natural seedlings grow in most Mediterranean countries; it is cultivated in warm climates. In the Mediterranean region the fig is so widely used, both fresh and dried, that it is called “the poor man’s food.” The fruit contains significant amounts of calcium, potassium, phosphorus, and iron.

Caviar is a food consisting of salt-cured roe of the family Acipenseridae. Caviar is considered a delicacy and is eaten as a garnish or a spread.The roe can be "fresh" (non-pasteurized) or pasteurized, with pasteurization reducing its culinary and economic value.
Traditionally, the term caviar refers only to roe from wild sturgeon in the Caspian Sea and Black (Beluga, Ossetra and Sevruga caviars). Depending on the country, caviar may also be used to describe the roe of other species of sturgeon or other fish such as salmon, steelhead, trout, lumpfish, whitefish, or carp.
