On this episode we got back to our little RIVER in the middle of the city in search of Summer Run Steelhead and Sea Run Cutthroats! Perfect time of year for PNW fishing! Happy 4th of July!

Summer-run steelhead are ocean-going rainbow trout that enter freshwater rivers between May and October. They average 4 to 8 pounds and are highly aggressive, making them a thrilling game fish known for acrobatic leaps. They won't spawn until late winter, giving anglers a long window to target them.

Key Characteristics Run Timing: They return to rivers as early as spring, but they typically spend several months maturing in the river system before spawning.
Behavior: Unlike winter-run steelhead, summer runs are restless, traveling far inland to seek cool, deep refuge pools.
Appearance: They are bright and silvery when they enter fresh water, later developing dark-olive backs, speckled bodies, and a pink-to-red stripe along their sides
