I am a multi-species angler and lake trout have been on my bucket-list since I attended college in the Adirondacks. I was told that catching lake trout in the Lower Niagara River was "easy", especially in the month of December which the DEC recently opened to lake trout fishing. Although I am from Western, NY; I am from the Southern Tier (which is about 2 hours away) and my fishing experience at the Niagara is limited. I found fishing the river in December to be quite challenging and I was skunked on my first day. Nevertheless, I persisted and continued to fish in the pouring rain on day two. I finally landed a Lake trout on a SteelShad after countless hours of fishing! I also explored the Devil's Hole Cave!

Filmed with a DJI Osmo-action 3.
