The hatches of the small mayfly Leptophlebia vespertina have begun. It thrives in calm waters and slow-moving rivers across Europe.
When the hatch starts, huge numbers emerge — and trout take full advantage after a long period with limited food sources.

The hatch often creates exciting fishing opportunities, but the fish can become extremely selective, keying in on the insect at a stage that is difficult to imitate. This makes it both challenging and rewarding for dedicated fly fishers.

Lars Lenth and I head into the forests north of Oslo in search of rising trout and unforgettable moments on the water.
