Last Cast Magic: Wild Rainbow Trout After a Day of Struggle (BC River Adventure)

Took the 8-weight fly rod out chasing salmon, but the river had other plans.

Spent the whole day exploring new water, switching flies like a maniac — woolly buggers, eggs, streamers, nymphs, squirmy worms… the green nymph and pink squirmy worm ended up doing the work.

Long hike, lots of dead water, and finally found a few promising holes. Hooked into a chunky rainbow on the last cast of the day — with my girlfriend landing one right after too. Definitely made the grind worth it.

Also spotted a tank of a steelhead — probably 60cm+ — but couldn’t convince it to bite. One day I’ll figure those things out (seriously, if you’ve got tips, I’m all ears — self-taught and still learning every trip).

Not sharing the exact river to keep the pressure off the local system, but I 100% encourage anyone to go explore their local waters. Even when the fishing’s tough, the challenge makes the reward that much better.

Thanks for watching! hope you enjoyed the video!
