♦ Lake Arena is an artificial lake located at the foot of the Rocher de Roquebrune, which resulted from the flooding of an old sand quarry that was in operation for around forty years.
Covering approximately 30 hectares, the lake is fed by the Argens River.
It is of great ecological interest:
- its western part, covered with reed beds, offers natural shelters for the birds that nest there and spawning grounds for fish,
- its banks made of compacted sand constitute an ideal habitat for the European bee-eater which digs its burrows there,
- many species of birds have been recorded there, in particular the grey heron.
After the former quarry was filled with water, a swimming beach and a water sports center were created there. Several sports and activities are allowed, including water skiing, windsurfing, pedal boats. A mini-golf course is also available in the summer season.
