ISOLATED TROUT | Small Stream Fly Fishing for Native Trout in the PNW Cascade Mountains

My friend Lucas and I went out on his birthday in search of a remote mountain creek in the Cascade Mountains not too far from home. What we found was gates and rough roads leading to the creek, so we decided to pivot and try to fish the next drainage over.

After a good bushwhack into the canyon, we got to the creek and immediately began catching small. native trout and enjoying the beauty of this lush, verdant riparian zone.

Throughout the day a thought started forming in my head. How did these trout get here? There are two fairly large waterfalls downstream from where we were fishing, I just couldn't fathom how the trout ended up there. I'm sure someone much more educated on these matters could explain it, but the fact was they were there and we were catching them and spending time on the water with one of your close friends (on his birthday) doing what you love is one of the best ways that I can think of to spend the day!
