In Search of Monster Pike | Pike Fishing Ireland

Pike fishing in Ireland doesn't get much more exciting than fishing a venue where every run could be from a monster Pike weighing 30lb or more.

In this episode of Fishing With Steve, I'm returning to one of my favourite Pike lakes, where the potential for a truly exceptional fish makes every alarm an exciting prospect.

I've fished this lake many times over the years, and it's the venue where I caught my personal best Pike at 23lb 12oz.
With Pike known to reach 36lb and potentially bigger, it's a place that always keeps you wondering what might be waiting beneath the surface.

For this session, I decided it was time to try something different. Rather than fishing the familiar swims beside the car park, I headed around to the far bank, a part of the lake I've wanted to fish for years.
Getting there with all my fishing and filming equipment meant taking the longer route through a field and across an old bridge, but I was determined to give this less-familiar swim a proper chance.
With the Pike season still in its early stages and weed remaining around the more accessible swims, choosing the right location was particularly important.

Once set up, I used my Deeper sonar to investigate the lakebed, check the depth and locate baitfish around a drop-off, before positioning sardine deadbaits using my bait boat.

The session brings the excitement and uncertainty that come with targeting big Pike. Changing weather, bait presentation, rig adjustments and the search for feeding fish all play their part as I try to make the most of the opportunity.

Join me for In Search of Monster Pike, a real-world session of pike fishing in Ireland featuring deadbait fishing, bait boat tactics, Deeper sonar and the challenge of trying to locate some of the biggest predators in our freshwater lakes.

If you enjoy pike fishing, big Pike, Irish angling and honest fishing adventures where you never quite know what the next run will bring, make sure you're subscribed to Fishing With Steve for more Pike and carp fishing sessions from Ireland. #PikeFishing #PikeFishingIreland #FishingWithSteve
