I lost the fish of a lifetime on this river a few weeks ago. The line broke and I watched it swim away. The season was closing fast, so Claire and I went back for one last shot before the river blew out for the year.

This is week 4 of learning to catch my own food from zero. Four weeks ago I didn't know what a steelhead was. This trip changed things.

Huge thanks to Claire for being out there for every cast, every loss, and the net job that mattered most.

Steelhead are protected in my area. The fish was released alive and healthy.
