In this video Old Man River (Steve) goes head-to-head against Old Man Winter (the elements) in a battle for lake trout limits in Milwaukee Wisconsin. @NaturalSelectionAngling hasn't done any "instructional" videos about fishing before, but we made this our first. Brian, Matt and Steve are going to show you how to cook "low and slow" for winter lake trout. The keys to success were working 30-40 feet of water inside and outside the harbor using a 70-30 split of spoons and crankbaits in the spread. We fished 70% of the spread in the bottom half of the water column with 30% in the top half, trolling between 1.6 and 2.2mph. Setups that took fish were boards with 2-5 color leadcores, dipsy divers back 40-50 feet on the #2 setting and downriggers (one almost dragging bottom and one 2/3rds of the way to the bottom). We used some Looney spoons (bent spoons) that work a little better than standard spoons on a very slow troll, and they took almost all the spoon fish. Natural Selection Custom Fishing Lures crankbaits took several fish as well. A three person limit of lakers was harvested along with a pretty steelhead. We hope you enjoy the video!
