Fly Fishing New Zealand - Backcountry BROWN TROUT Paradise!!

This past weekend, solo into the lower North Island backcountry, sometimes a trip with the least expectation, turns out to be one of high elation...

It is peak holiday season in New Zealand and the mountains are busy with hiker's and holiday makers, but you can never know of solitude found until you try... This is a few of the fish landed on Saturday, not another sole to be seen…

It was a day filled with frustration with more than a dozen fish lost, mostly to a shitty batch of hooks that we’re snapping on the strike.

Fish we’re hesitant on Cicada’s, most nosing them and turning away, or slashing at them so quick, I never got a chance to set the hook. Sight fishing... paradise!
