Fishing The Cowlitz River For Anything That Bites

Using my signature cured egg recipe doesn't always create results. When it does, the bite can be spectacular.

I bobber dogged my cured salmon eggs at the Barrier Dam on the Cowlitz River where the 2024 Coho Salmon run is just getting started. As the Chinook Salmon spawn and die off to add nutrients to the river, hoards of Silver Salmon are expected to brave the lower river in order to reach the barrier dam.

Some will make it to the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery or spawn in the cowlitz river, and some will be caught by the thousands of anglers seeking to capitalize on their presence as they traverse the miles upon miles of river system.
