After loads of sessions fishing London canals, it finally happened… my first ever canal pike!

What makes this one even better is the location. This stretch of canal is hardly fished for pike — most people walk straight past it or don’t realise what’s actually in there. It’s not a numbers venue at all… you might blank a few sessions, but if you stick at it and really work the area, there are definitely some proper fish lurking.

That’s what makes urban fishing like this so rewarding. You’re not just catching fish — you’re figuring out overlooked water, putting the time in, and getting results where most people wouldn’t even try.

The take was aggressive and completely out of nowhere, which just proves that even in quiet, unfished-looking canals… you never know what’s sitting there.
