Had a great time out on the big lake with my buddy! He’s newer to salmon fishing, and I love showing him the ropes and how to get it done out there.
We set lines around 6:30 PM, and we had a fish on within 10 minutes! We landed a nice king around 10 pounds, and then things went quiet as we worked our way toward sundown.

Just as the sun was going down around 8:00 PM, we had a Dipsey Diver fire. As we were getting that fish just about to the boat, the 300 copper lit off and created some evening chaos! We ended up losing the long-line fish, but after getting everything reset, the 300 copper wasn’t back in the water for five minutes before a nice steelhead came in on it.

We had one more hit on the meat rig down around 60 feet while fishing in 130 feet of water. That fish was jumping all the way to the boat, but about 20 feet back, it made one last jump and flip—and threw the hook right back at us!

We ended the evening 4 for 6. Not a bad show for just 2½ hours of fishing out of Grand Haven!

Thanks for watching, and I hope you enjoy the evening salmon and steelhead action! ????
