Sometimes things don't go to plan, and in this case, with my chosen venue too busy had to come up quickly with a back-up plan.

Having a new rig that I was looking to use, I dismissed the thoughts of catching tench and headed to a beautiful estate lake that contained a few carp. These carp are really an untapped quantity, far from massive and often drifting past whilst tench fishing on the float, ones that are rarely targeted and rarely caught.

Could this new rig outwit one of them? With just a few hours at my disposal and swim choice chosen carefully I sat back with two rods in position to see what would happen!
