A Modern Nymph pattern from Eastern Europe thats meant to imitate Caddis and Shrimp like insects in Rivers. This fly has sprung up a completely new method for Fly Fishing with its own dedicated lines and leaders.
Utilising Latex materials for the shellback, it makes for a very realistic looking fly. Also it's slim and very heavy so that it sinks to the desired depth very quickly.
The variants once again are endless. Tie on grub or buzzer hooks from size 8 through 16 and your imagination can do the rest. This particular pattern is tied on a Kamasan B110 Size 12 Grubber Hook and the pattern was literally dreamt up in the session. A good rule of thumb is to tie with a lighter coloured body and a darker thorax.
As for fishing it, I'm yet to find the best methods myself, but from the literature it appears it is meant to be cast at short range upstream. Then lift the rod up to stay in contact as it comes downstream rather than retrieving. Any indication on the line, you should set the hook.
