In the north of France, just above Paris, less than 299 miles from dunkirk, lies the beautiful Chef de Ville.
Chef de Ville is an elongated stretch of water of 7.5 hectares, lined with a dense green forest edge. Most swims have been created next to each other so that you can use the full width of the water. 8 spacious 1 person swims have been created. Of course, if there are two of you, you can choose 2 adjacent spots and fish them together from 1 spot. We would certainly recommend this at swims 7 and 8 and then fish from swim 7. The lake was created by previous gravel excavations in this area. The Marne River runs just behind Chef De Ville. This keeps the water level fairly stable, even in the warmer summer months. And it’s a beautifully clear water, perfect for working with underwater cameras. This is also an ideal location to rent it exclusively with a group of fishermen. The owner Anthony will receive you warmly. He speaks fluent French, Spanish, Portuguese and English.
Accommodation and/or facilities
In the middle of the site, just behind swim 3, there is a neat wooden club building with kitchen, seating area and terrace, which is ideal for socializing. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, a freezer and a combination microwave. You can also order and enjoy your breakfast or dinner here. The new, neat shower and toilet are also located here. There are also sockets in the club building to charge your batteries, cameras and telephones. You can also rent a boat here. Please note, since there are only 2 boats, you must reserve them in advance. You will find the town of Meaux less than 10 kilometers away. Here you will find several supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants, a gas station and a Decathlon.

The Swims
Chef de Ville has 8 spacious swims. Of these, 7 swims have been placed next to each other on the southern bank and 1 in the back corner. Each site can be reached by car, which you can also simply leave behind your site. Due to the higher banks, the owners have created cuttings that are built up gradually. Even though they are all single-person spots, you can sit on a spot in consultation with 2 fishermen. The maximum is 8 anglers. The ideal situation is to reserve Chef de Ville exclusively for 6 anglers. The bivvy can be placed at the top while the rod pods can be placed a few steps lower. Spacious wide steps connect the different plateaus. Chef the Ville is a challenging water with varying bottom depths. For example, halfway through your swim there may be a plateau of hard gravel stones or beautiful weed beds where the fish like to hide and find their food. But don’t forget the overhanging trees where the fish like to hang out. A water scope/viewing bucket is definitely recommended to place your rigs exactly between the weeds or to find the large plateaus. The depths vary between 2 and 6 meters.
Swim 1: Is a nice corner for fishing, on your own bank. Here it is about 2 to 5 meters.
Swim 2: You can see the whole lake and has an average depth of 2 to 5.5 meters.
Swim 3: Has a fairly smooth bottom with an average depth of 2 to 5.5 meters. The clubhouse is located behind this swim.
Swim 4: Has an irregular bottom course with different depths, average depth of 2 to 5.5 meters.
Swim 5: Has an average depth of 3 to 6 meters.
Swim 6: Has an irregular bottom course with different depths, average depth of 3 to 6 meters.
Swim 7: Has an average depth of 3 to 5 meters.
Swim 8: Located on the eastern part. This swim has a large area with weed and aquatic plants. 2 meters to 5 meters deep. From swim 8 it is possible to fish the small island.
The fish stock
The fish stock is not yet fully known at Chef de Ville. Despite the fact that it used to be a pay lake with an excellent fish stock, there has been no active fishing in the intervening years. When Anthony first took the boat out onto the water, large schools of large carp swam with him. But of course you can’t read weights from this. This makes it even more exciting to discover the fish stock with us. New fish have now been purchased through a recognized breeder and released on Chef de Ville. These are chipped. This concerns 350 carp. Depending on what old stock still surfaces, a stocking program may be set up with fish between 12 and 15 kilos. This is to keep the average weight at a good level.
You can easily read the chip with the chip reader. This is located on the top left of the back. If you catch a fish without a chip, leave it in the weight sling while you wait for Anthony so that this fish can still be chipped.
The largest fish known at this time are grass carp 32 kilos, common carp 26 kilos and a mirror carp of 27 kilos. But given the rapid increase in weight of the fish caught, we think the records will go up quickly.
