I set out for a simple day session of carp fishing – but it didn’t go to plan at first. The first lake I visited was too small with swims packed too close together, and the second wasn’t right either with deep reed beds and concrete pegs.

Eventually, I ended up at the Old Coarse Lake at Mere Lane Fishery, and it turned into a great session! I landed a few carp, lost one, and missed a couple of bites, all fishing over a solid PVA bag.
