Canal fishing in Ireland can be unpredictable, so I explored a canal that connects to the River Shannon to see if any pike or perch were active.
After an unsuccessful start on the canal, switching to ultralight fishing on the River Shannon saved the session.

I began the session on a canal that feeds into the River Shannon, but it quickly became clear that fish activity was low. No signs of predators and no success, so it was time to adapt.

Moving onto the River Shannon system with ultralight gear, things improved. I managed to catch a few small jack pike and one perch, turning a slow start into a solid and enjoyable session.

No big fish this time, but plenty of exploring, learning, and making the most of the conditions — which is what fishing in Ireland is all about.
