European carp (Cyprinus carpio) are one of Australia's most devastating invasive species, making up as much as 90% of the fish biomass in some river systems . Often referred to as "mud marlins" or "freshwater ferals," they are highly targeted by recreational anglers who view their removal as a public service to protect native ecosystems.
