This was an Impromptu last minute decision to get down to my local club water in Staffordshire. The weather was 2 degrees celcius with a cold north easterly breeze which prompted me to go with minimal bait. I had around 300g of stick mix which I used in conjuction with a pop up inside a solid bag.
During the warmer months I generally do one or two nights but as the winter sets in I switch to shorter fishing sessions usually getting bankside as the light breaks through then fishing through to almost dark. I just love the challenge winter fishing brings although a long stretch of blanks would definitely take it's toll.
There are certain types of water I definitely avoid during the winter which are generally deep large expanses of water & low in Carp stock. The one in this film is a vast water but has a huge amount of carp and through experience I know exactly where they congregate during the cold snap which is the main reason I regularly attend.
