Watch as thousands of King Salmon, AKA Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) climb the fish ladder at the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Nimbus Fish Hatchery Sacramento — where spawning salmon are completing the final stage of their remarkable salmon migration.

These anadromous fish were raised from fertilized eggs at Nimbus, spent their first year here, and were released into the Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta. Now, three years later, they’ve returned—colorful, powerful, and determined—to complete their life cycle.
