I was going to go fishing and met a man in the parking lot that seemed unfamiliar with the way to drift for red salmon. He informs me he and his wife have been casting and reeling and were unsure. He said they had caught none. On the way to the river i realize I have extra gear in my car that I loan her. She had a hard time getting around in the water and I had to really stand by her so she would not fall. It was probably too much for her, but I had to stand by her much of the time and tell her not to move much so she wouldn't fall. She got the first fish. They were pretty good for first timers even landing most of their fish without a net! I cleaned the fish for them even. They tried to offer me some money in the end and I refused. Please remember do not accept any money or bartering as this is considered guiding. I said I just wanted them to have a good time on their trip since they were leaving the next day and hadn't gotten any fish yet. They were extremely friendly and I hope I helped add to the enjoyment of some vacationers down on the kenai peninsula fishing for reds. They are tough, but given
