I had a random day to get some trout fishing in and decided to check out a fork of a river that I haven't fished in quite some time. It's a pretty easy drive from my house and it seemed perfect for a quick summer day trip. Upon arriving I found that the road was blocked and in order to park there and hike in, I needed a permit that I didn't bring with me. I tried to fish the main river but found it packed with people. I was in the mood for some alone time, so I stopped by a small creek in the area that I also hadn't fished in quite some time.

The fishing was to be expected. Small wild trout in tough to get to spots but I really do love this type of fishing. It becomes more about testing yourself as an angler and less about the size and quantity of fish. I like to look for ways at improving on my fly fishing skill set all while being in a beautiful setting.
