Day 67 - Bosnia Road trip

Day two of our 3 day driving extravaganza was to Bosnia. I was pretty skeptical about Bosnia to be honest, but I was blown away by its beauty. We started the day by driving 2 hours and up a very narrow and steep road, to the wrong border crossing. That one was just for locals apparently. So we turned back and headed for the main crossing. The roads in Bosnia are so awful in rural areas. We drove along very narrow mountain roads for around 1 hour until we found a highway. We eventually arrived in the city of Mostar, Bosnia. A city famous for its old town and really unique bridge. There was quite a lot of homeless people here. The bridge was very cool. We walked over it and saw it from below, it was ace. Not as ace as the river it crossed though! The water was crystal clear and really blue. We had a walk around the old town and got some very cheap, delicious ice cream. Awesome city, we loved it! The only downside was being sold dodgy Bosnia pins. Onto the next place! Which was Kravica waterfalls. I loved the look of this place online, I thought it looked epic. Boy I was not let down! The waterfalls were unreal, around 20 waterfalls pouring into a beautiful, blue river. There was so many people on the banks but only a few in the water, which left us puzzled. Let’s go for a dip anyway! It was my turn to go for a dip first. I just dove in to get the initial shock of being cold over with. I swam to the opposite bank and geared up for my self-tour of the waterfalls. However, I witnessed a snake on the bank! I was so confused and didn’t know whether they could swim. Or worse.. they can bite and swim. Or worse.. They can bite, swim and are venomous. I did a very quick lap of the falls and swam back as fast as possible. Despite telling Claire about my snake encounter, this didn’t faze her, weirdly. She gingerly entered the water and swam over to the opposite bank. She also saw a snake, a different one to mine as the colour was different. However, she lost her cool when the snake entered the water and in her own words ‘Came right for me omg’. I wondered how on earth she could out swim a snake, I didn’t know if I should be impressed or scared. After our brief swim, we observed the waterfalls for a while. We then decided to drive back to Dubrovnik as it was a 3 hour drive back.
