The #marblenewt #Triturusmarmoratus is a mainly terrestrial newt native to western Europe. They are found in the Iberian Peninsula and #france.
Crickets of appropriate size, black soldier fly larvae, fruit flies, dwarf white isopods, chopped up earthworms, and bean beetles are all welcome meals.
They are nocturnal, meaning they sleep during the day. Can live 12-15 years in the wild and have been documented to live more than 17 years in captivity.
Amphibians—frogs, newts, toads, and salamanders—are equipped with defense mechanisms deserving of much caution. Some of the potent toxins they produce include digoxin, tryptamines, and tetrodotoxin. These can cause a variety of symptoms such as irregular heart rhythm, dizziness, cardiac arrest, and paralysis.
